Attorney Timothy Bussey of The Bussey Law Firm, P.C. was recently profiled in Colorado Springs Style magazine, in a section focusing on his long-time focus on criminal defense, DUI defense, and serious auto accidents. His experience includes twenty years in Colorado courts, including representation of those involved in military courts-martial and in both federal and state cases.
Tim Bussey’s focus on innovative trial tactics and creative, well-thought-out legal arguments is not only his trademark, but that of his entire office. He was recently involved in litigation surrounding the methods used to test blood alcohol concentration (BAC) by the Colorado Springs Metro Forensic Laboratory – including the discovery of a number of errors in sample testing.
Mr. Bussey’s work on BAC testing errors was even cited by the U.S. Supreme Court in a recent case. In Bullcoming v. New Mexico, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg refers to a newspaper article quoting attorney Tim Bussey. The Bullcoming case focused on whether a second lab assistant could testify as to the methods used in a laboratory test of a blood sample for alcohol content. The Supreme Court held that the second lab assistant could not testify; the testimony had to be given by the person who actually performed the test.
Timothy Bussey has been recognized as one of the National Trial Lawyers’ Association’s Top 100 Trial Attorneys since 2007. He’s also the co-author of Defending DUI Vehicular Homicide Cases, a book that has received national recognition. His recent speaking engagements include the American Chemistry Society National Meeting in 2011 and ongoing Continuing Legal Education classes.
